Abodu Review
Abodu is a prefab ADU manufacturer and designer based in Redwood City, California. They offer 3 ADU models, with floor plans ranging from 335 square feet to 650 square feet. In terms of style, Abodu’s ADUs have a sleek cabin design, featuring large glass doors, dual panel windows, slanted roofs, all with a Scandinavian influence. While floor plans are pre-designed, external and internal upgrades are available for customization, including decking, landscaping, solar paneling, and more.
Homes are built on a typical raised concrete foundation with a crawlspace. ADUs arrive on site in a highly finished state and include appliances, fixtures, electrical, heating, A/C, and plumbing. It is worth noting that Abodu handles all design, permitting, approval, building, installation, and shipping; however, they only service the San Jose area. Homes are delivered in a highly finished state, leaving very little work to be done on site. On-site work can be finished in as little as 2 weeks. On average, the entire build process takes about 4 months.
Strengths:
Speedy design, delivery, and installation
Offer turn-key building services
Homes are delivered in a highly-finished state
Reasons they might not be for you:
You are looking for a bigger home (their largest floor plan is 650 sqft)
You are located outside of their San Francisco Bay Area installation zone
You are looking for more flexibility in layout or home design
