Teak Bali Review

Teak Bali is a prefab home manufacturer and designer based in Keaau, Hawaii. They offer 11 studio and single-family models, with floor plans ranging from 194 square feet to 3,972 square feet. In terms of style, Teak Bali’s homes have a tropical design, with high pitched roofs, clean lines, interior stonework, glass walls, wooden posts, and an open “Zen” layout for natural lighting and cooling airflow. All plans and models are fully customizable. Homes are built with the post & beam method using over-sized hardwood members, double-bearer floor structures, and header beams with attached top plates. Their sturdy design and materials allow them to withstand hurricanes, earthquakes, and even termites. Teak Bali builds with environmentally friendly materials and plants two trees for every tree used in the build.

Manufacturing takes 4-5 months and homes are shipped in as little as 4-10 weeks. Homes are pre-assembled and shipped from Indonesia, but require a local builder for reassembly and installation. Permitting, plumbing, and electrical are also handled locally. Teak Bali can hire local re-assemblers for turn-key builds in most locations and can provide simple re-assembly instructions for builders outside their network.

Strengths:

  • Offer turn-key building services

  • Environmentally friendly, with green building materials and practices

Reasons they might not be for you:

  • You aren’t interested in a Bali or Hawaiian tropical home design

  • You want to work with a more local company that will manage your build from start to finish
