House Port Review
House Port is a New York based prefab kit company that can ship homes across the U.S.. House Port kits feature cube shaped home units with a large secondary roof over the entire property and also providing shade for a deck area. Home kits are exterior kits and do not include any of the interior systems, appliances or finishing needed for the home. House Port handles the design, prefabrication, and delivery of the home kit, which includes building materials, instructions, and construction plans. And all other activities including site work, construction, and the interior of the house are left to the buyer or the buyer’s contractor.
Kits come available in four arrangements depending on the number and size of the modern cubes in the final layout: Estate, Ranch, Bungalow, and Mini. Styles range between 784 sq ft to 3072 sq ft of living space, but this does not include the additional outdoor patio space under the homes’ secondary roofs.
Strengths:
Unique Design - The design with two roofs is differentiated from most other prefab plans
Kit Homes present potential value for DIYers - kits cost around $100 per sqft
Reasons they may not be for you:
You prefer a more traditional style of housing.
You don’t want a Kit House where you will be responsible for most of the construction and finishing process
