SonderPods is a designer and builder of prefab ADUs based in Novato, California. They offer 3 different ADU models, with pre-designed floor plans ranging from 434 square feet to 741 square feet. In terms of design, their ADUs feature a modern ranch style with lots of natural light from the 4+ floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors, a seam metal roof, vertical siding, clean landscaping, and lots of deck space. Limited customization is available, such as adding an additional bedroom to their smaller units.
ADUs from SonderPods come with a full kitchen, full-sized bathroom, laundry connections, a mini-split HVAC, and a 10-year structural warranty for their largest model. Popular upgrades include decking, fire sprinklers, and a 2.3KW integrated solar system. ADUs are manufactured to factory-built housing code, meaning they’re held to the same standard as any custom-built home in California. With solar paneling and efficient appliances, SonderPods’ ADUs can easily achieve net-zero energy efficiency.
SonderPods offers end-to-end services, meaning they handle all design, manufacturing, permitting, delivery, installation, and on-site work like landscaping. After buyers settle on a design, the module goes into construction in Sonderpod’s Riverside, California factory. While Sonderpods manufactures the home module, they prepare the site with a foundation and utility connections. After about 3 weeks, the completed module is delivered to the site, installed via crane, and hooked up to the utilities. SonderPods’ team then finishes all landscaping and pathways as the ADU finished. The entire process can be completed in under 60 days.
